EMA & PETER
One of them is an extrovert who can’t sit still for a moment; the other is always ready with a joke. One comes up with ideas; the other is always game.
One organises things; the other makes sure there’s never a dull moment.
Meet Ema and Peter.
Their first meeting was twenty years ago in the Dolomites, where they both used to go on annual skiing trips with their parents. Eight years later,
when Peter got down on one knee on Marmolada peak, the very spot where they first met, Ema was stunned. “Peter was always coming up
with novel, and above all funny ways to propose. Like he’d put an onion ring on my finger so I’d start crying and it would look like
I was really moved... In the end he gave me a real ring and it was truly romantic.” She may not remember Peter’s exact words, but that moment
will stay in her heart forever.
The bride had a free hand planning the wedding, but she was helped out by her father and, mainly on the big day itself, a wedding coordinator. The wedding was held in Slovakia on Friday 13th September. That day brought the country its heaviest rain
of the year, but the atmosphere from the ceremony to the end of
the party was so electric that nobody paid any attention to the weather and nobody cared about any superstitions. The first tears of joy were shed during the church ceremony to the accompaniment of a string quartet.
That was followed by the wedding breakfast for a hundred guests, with sixty more arriving after six in the evening. There was food; dancing to modern music
and traditional Slovak folk tunes; a rum bar; a photo booth; and even a magician. Working with the wedding agency,
Ema combined black-and-white elegance with modern chic. A flower cloud incorporating the bride’s veil hovered beneath the ceiling, and nobody would have guessed that they were actually in a football stadium.
And if anyone hadn’t succumbed to tears during the day, during the traditional chepcheni ceremony at midnight everyone was wiping their eyes. In candlelight, surrounded by twenty-five girls and ladies, the bride wore folk costume and a floral wreath on her head, which was then replaced with a white bonnet, a symbol of her married status, while they sang folk songs, some sad, some joyful...
“It was a beautiful day, full of dancing, food, happiness and laughter.
We still can’t believe it all turned out so wonderfully. We’re really grateful,”
Ema and Peter say with a smile, supporting each other like they always do.
We wish them an equally wonderful life.
