DOROTA & JOZEF
The relationship between Dorota and Jozef embodies the saying that opposites attract. And they have certainly taken it far together.
When a mutual friend first introduced them, Dorota, an artistic goldsmith and jeweler, was in a relationship with someone else and wasn‘t considering programmer Jozef at all. Everything shifted on New Year‘s Eve when Jozef lifted
Dorota into his arms and spun her around right as the clock struck midnight.
She instantly knew that this subtle gesture was the beginning of something significant. Jozef proposed to Dorota after six years together.
Wanting her to have an exceptional engagement ring, he designed it himself, choosing her dream stone — a sapphire. After the engagement, the tables turned,
and Dorota dived into designing and crafting the wedding rings. Inspired by leaves collected from places linked to their past,
present, and future, she aimed for the rings to appear
delicate yet strong and unique, just like their
relationship. Besides the rings, Dorota designed her earrings, which influenced
the design of her wild bridal bouquet, and her wedding dress,
which her mother lovingly sewed. She also channeled her creativity into their wed- ding invitation, which allowed guests to fold it into a butterfly
to wear as a boutonniere. Regarding the wedding, the couple wished for it to be mini- malist yet creative. They focused on a pure celebration of love,
ensuring that their guests wanted for nothing during the day.
During the classic church ceremony,
Pachelbel’s Canon in D played, followed by a transition from Dorota‘s hometown
to the Alpin Hotel in Poland. “Choosing a venue was quite challenging.
We needed accommodations for over 100 guests. Initially, we searched in Slovakia but had no luck. So, we ultimately decided on Poland,” Dorota explains.
The beautiful wedding venue nestled in the mountains exceeded their expectations. Everything was perfectly prepared, the staff showcased the best of Polish hospitality, and alongside traditional Slovak dishes,
local culinary treasures graced the tables. Although the wedding day was quite packed, the newlyweds found time for traditions.
Along with the first dance to James Bay‘s Break My Heart Right, there was the breaking of the plate and a special Slovak custom called “čepčení”
(an old Slovak ritual involving removing the wreath from the bride‘s head - editor‘s note). Both describe this traditional wedding ritual as the most powerful moment of their wedding. While Dorota and Jozef have had a stunning wedding,
they are saving their honeymoon for winter when they plan to travel somewhere sunny. We wish them success not only with this
plan but with everything else they undertake together as a married couple.
