HANNAH & SIMON bride

HANNAH & SIMON

If it is true that the way to the heart is through the stomach, it is twice as true in the
case of Hannah and Simon. Food is their love language and the
common denominator of their relationship — whether they are cooking together
or hosting friends at the long dinner parties this London couple loves to put on.
Simon is a passionate cook and the kitchen is his second office, while Hannah happily
watches from the sofa, having perfected the art of lounging.
Professionally, they are both connected by finance—she is a tax lawyer,
he a financial controller.
They married after three years together, and it was the emancipated Hannah who
ultimately proposed—despite originally having no desire to get married.
But let’s go back to the beginning. When they met,
their lives were divided by the Atlantic. Hannah flew from New York to London to visit
friends, and a spark quickly flew between her and Simon across a packed pub.
Love at first sight? Most likely, because by the second evening,
Simon had already swept Hannah onto the dance floor. We no longer know exactly
whether it was after midnight, but fate’s symbolism is all around us, and so the words
of ABBA’s famous hit Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) may well have
truly come to pass. Hannah’s short trip to London
ultimately brought her not just a “man after midnight,” but a love for life.
A brief visit took an unexpected turn.
From the informal ceremony to the celebration of the newlyweds, a string quartet
accompanied them with the famous song All You Need Is Love,
making it clear that right after good food, love is what is truly needed in life.
The highlight of the day was a perfectly arranged dinner — essentially a typical
gathering for friends, just on a larger and more celebratory scale.
A visually enlarged version of everyday life. More celebratory, louder, more in bloom.
Hannah was not afraid to go over budget on the flowers,
and the tables transformed into a chronicle throughout the wedding — guests wrote
and drew messages on hand-illustrated tablecloths.
The planning was demanding, but they would happily relive the day itself all over
again. Like a song that never gets old.
Like a long dinner with friends that you never want to end. So may their life together
be exactly that — seasoned with joy and full of laughter.
