They say love can move mountains. For Lauren and Brayden, the mountains became
the very stage for their wedding saga.
They first met at an event in the midst of utter chaos — accompanied by a torrential
downpour. Four years later, their engagement unfolded
in a moment of quiet calm, marked by an overwhelmingly touching gesture.
Just weeks before the proposal,
Lauren’s grandmother passed away.
“She was the woman who essentially raised her, and she needed to know that I was
serious about her granddaughter,” Brayden explains.
“I had a ring made quickly and set it with a stone from her grandmother’s wedding
band. I was still able to show it to her before she passed,
so she knew everything.”
There are proposals you simply cannot say no to.
Although Lauren and Brayden live in one of the
world’s great ski nations — Canada — they chose Switzerland for their
winter fairytale. “We had several themes and concepts in play. I even made
Brayden a full presentation with mood boards and collages.
In the end, we were most excited about an après-ski theme — and let’s be honest,
Europeans truly excel at that,” Lauren says with a smile.
A few days before the ceremony, Lauren and Brayden slipped into their wedding attire
for the first time and, during a pre-wedding shoot inside
a breathtaking 10th-century chapel, exchanged their vows. Just the two of them and the
photographer. Nothing more was needed.
They followed this intimate moment with a completely unconventional ceremony.
They said their I do’s in the ski resort of Zermatt to the sound of violins,
in front of 50 guests and with the majestic peak of the Matterhorn rising in the back
ground. The overall atmosphere felt more like a mountain
party than a traditional wedding. Guests fully embraced the spirit of the day, arriving
in vintage ski suits and winter furs,
dancing on the hotel terrace high above the valley.
As evening fell, it was time for an outfit change and a formal dinner.
The elegant interiors filled with laughter, warmth, and a sea of candlelight — over 150
kilograms of candles illuminated the tables. Flowers were intentionally absent;
the only two blooms appeared in Lauren’s hands during the ceremony.
Minimalism, executed with maximum effect.
“We didn’t spend on lavish décor. We focused on our family and friends and chose
them over aesthetics. The mountains and the magic of Zermatt did everything for us.
It truly couldn’t have been more perfect,” they agree.
