LENA & LOUIS
She’s Canadian, he has French-British roots. Lena and Louis were brought together by art — they met at a gallery in London where Lena started as an intern and Louis worked in sales. Art remains a central theme in their life as they stayed in London and now run the gallery together.
They have been officially married since 2019, when they exchanged vows at the Chelsea Town Hall in London. Their summer celebration, however,
had to be postponed due to COVID — it finally culminated five years later
in a grand wedding party in Provence.
“We wanted it to feel like a holiday,” says Lena. Many guests traveled from faraway places to attend the wedding, so the couple opted for a relaxed program to let everyone fully enjoy France. “For our closest family and friends, it was a week-long celebration,” she adds. Lena’s festivities began with a bachelorette weekend
in Tuscany with her friends and sisters, filled with cooking,
exploring, shopping, and wine tasting. They then flew to Provence together, where they spent a spa day with family and prepared homemade pizza in the evening. Next came a pool party as more guests gradually arrived, culminating in a celebratory dinner at Bastide de Gordes. The wedding day began with
yoga and matcha tea. The ceremony was scheduled for 6:00 PM, on the longest day of the year. Dinner was served at one long table set in an alley lined with lavender and olive trees — just the way Lena would
have arranged it at home. Louis’ mother, an avid gardener, took care
of the floral decorations. Since the garden was in full bloom, they only added delicate sweet pea flowers to complete the atmosphere. Music was provided by friends and family members rather than a professional band. What about the first dance?
It, along with other traditional moments, was skipped. Instead, the evening ended with a final dance to Justin Bieber’s Anyone, perfectly underscoring the atmosphere.
Although the couple informed their guests a year in advance, preparations only went into full swing during the last three to six months. Lena handled most
of the planning herself and brought in a coordinator towards the end to help finalize details and ensure everything ran smoothly.
The entire week was centered around Lena’s family home in Isle Sur la Sorgue, where she lived as a child and returns to every year with her family. “It’s a deeply sentimen- tal place for me,” she says. The location added a unique
charm to the celebration — everything felt intimate, natural, and deeply personal. Weddings have no rules. They can take place years after an official marriage,
last a week, and skip traditions entirely. What matters most is that the celebration reflects the couple. And we can only wish Lena and Louis a life together as relaxed and joyful as their week in Provence.
