20 Minutes - Simona and Alex Katzer
Simona and Alex Katzer are identical twins and kindred
musical spirits who can fill any space with energy and joy. Simona is three minutes older; Alex arrived at the interview symbolically three minutes late. Indistinguishable at first glance, after a short conversation, it becomes clear that each has a different temperament and occasionally a different perspective. However, they are perfectly in sync, and their love for music makes them an inseparable duo. They spoke about shyness, the Czech audience, weddings, and the repertoire that gets everyone energized and dancing.

Simona & Alex Katzer

Singing twins who form an inseparable duo on and off stage. They have been involved in music for over fifteen years, and on the wedding scene since 2018. Under the brand
20 Minutes, they blend pop, soul, and R&B and can energize even the shyest audience. They have performed at the weddings of Patrik Schick and David Lim, but are equally happy to play at a small village celebration.

Simona is the bigger introvert, Alex is outspoken and has a more extroverted personality. If you want the girls for an event or wedding, contact them at: katzertwins@gmail.com.

20 Minutes - Simona and Alex Katzer
When I listened to a sample of your wedding “remix” before the interview, it immediately put me in a positive mood. Do you only perform together, or separately too?

Alex: Mostly together. Simi has recently started getting into DJing, but otherwise, we perform together.

Does that have any disadvantages?

Simona: We have to compromise; we both obsess over details, but we’re set up similarly, so it works. And most importantly — an extra pair of hands always comes in handy.

Alex: Sometimes we set up the sound system ourselves, and we have to handle a lot of technical things.

Simona: And our third sister helps us with the organization.

Is it a visual advantage that you are identical twins?

Alex: I think so. In this business, it’s good when people recognize you and im- mediately categorize you somewhere. So the fact that we have a visually interesting face individually, and on top of that, there are two of them, is definitely an advantage.

Temperament radiates from you on stage, but what are you like off stage?

Simona: I’m more of an introvert, and I need peace outside the stage.

Alex: Simi likes Netflix and calls herself a “homebody.”

Simona: I genuinely consider myself an introvert. The stage is a defined space for me where I know I’ll release energy, which I enjoy, but as soon as I step off the stage, I’m rather shy.

That is actually surprisingly common among artists...

Simona: We’ve been playing for a long time now, and it’s much better, but in the beginning, it was different — we’d arrive at the wedding venue, sit in the car, and argue about who was going to get out first. Because suddenly you find yourself in a territory with a hundred perfectly strange people, and everyone is looking at you. Initially, we were so incredibly shy that we didn’t even say hello; we just ran to quickly find the lady in the white dress. (laughs)

How did you get into music?
