WHEN LOVE IS CELEBRATED bride

Are you interested in how much Czechs can spend on a wedding?

Take a look at the following survey conducted by the fintech app Revolut. It‘s unique in that it focuses on wedding guests and how much they are prepared to spend on someone else’s wedding.

Guests generally approach modern weddings with greater willingness and aware- ness that it’s something that holds real value for their loved ones. They arebecoming more actively involved, not just emotionally, but also financially. And we‘re not just talking about the parents of the newlyweds, who often contribute a large portion financially to the wedding.

When a wedding invitation lands on the table, few today see attendance as a social obligation. Most guests make their decision based on their relationship with the couple — and if it’s close, the willingness to invest in it grows in the Czech Repub- lic. According to a recent survey facilitated by the agency Dynata, a whole third of people report that they spend on weddings with joy. For every fifth guest, the reason is the need to support the new couple, while for every eleventh, it‘s simply about enjoying the celebration.

However, this does not mean that Czechs spend recklessly. More than half of Czech guests would ideally like to keep their expenses within three thousand crowns (approximately 120 €). This includes travel, a symbolic gift, or perhaps shared accommodation. On the other end of the scale are those who are prepared to spend over ten thousand crowns (approximately 400 €, especially if the wedding requires travel or involves close friends or family. This is roughly one in ten Czechs. In practi- ce, Czechs are willing to exceed their budget when the event truly matters to them.

Increasingly, weddings are held away from the couple’s and their close ones‘ residence. Estates, barns, or mountain cabins are gaining popularity due to their unique atmosphere, and sometimes the celebration of love even moves abroad. In such cases, travel is often the biggest expense for guests. Eighteen percent of people stated that traveling outside the Czech Republic is financially the most demanding for them. Additionally, there is pressure on attire fitting a specific style or colors, more expensive gifts, wedding bars, or international bachelor/bachelorette parties.

At these multi-day or international weddings, people often look for ways to keep expenses in check without ruining their experience. Revolut offers guests tools inthis regard that help them plan — favorable exchange rates, budget tracking, or the ability to split costs with other group members. For trips where joy, relationships, and planning mix, having a clear financial overview — and a little extra peace of mind — proves valuable.
