Petra, we want to introduce you. Tell us about yourself.  

My name is Petra and I'm a designer, at the moment I'm most fulfilled by creating unique and dreamy bridal designs. Ever since I was a kid I wished to do a creative job where I would be my own boss, it came true. It started with studying several fashion schools and led to starting my own studio and for that I am so grateful. It fulfills me that I can combine drawing, working with customers, trying different cuts on specific characters in my work. I also love working with fabrics and textures of materials, and outside of work I love adventurous travel and running in nature, hanging out with friends and spending time with my boyfriend.  

What is your signature style?  

I can't say I have a set handwriting, I feel like my work is constantly evolving and I'm glad for that, words that perhaps describe my dress making are lightness, contemporary, variation, romance and a kind of "fairy" style... 

 Why weddings?    

Designing and sewing wedding dresses came about gradually. Initially, back in a shared showroom five years ago at Concept Story in Prague 7, I had my smaller comprehensive collections for sale, which included tulle dresses for different occasions, but also shirt dresses, which I also enjoy creating a lot. Clients who came to the shop would sometimes ask me if it would be possible to make similar models to what I offer in a different fabric for weddings, proms or other special occasions. And that's how it all started....  

What I especially enjoy about designing wedding dresses is the variation and possibilities. I also like to experiment with color, combine different materials and cuts. I enjoy working with silhouettes of female figures, designing models in sizes 34-52.   

We want to know more. Do you prefer to design collections or bespoke?  

I can't say for sure, but I like to design dresses for specific customers who approach me based on the fact that they like my style of work and wish to have an original dress made just for them. For these customers we collaborate on the fit and also choose the fabrics together, it's always lovely to see the result when the customer is happy with how the dress looks on her and feels comfortable in it. When designing collections, I have to be inspired by something first and then the designs for the collection come from that. For 2021, I am planning a new studio collection of dresses in the studio with my colleagues who help me with sewing and cutting, which will not only be bridal...

 What specifically do you like to design?

The season that inspires you the most?  

I am most inspired by spring, when everything wakes up and blooms.  

Favourite holiday destination?  

Africa, Chile, Argentina, Chamonix-Mont Blanc and lots of other places.  

Favourite book?  

Recently- Fact Talk.  

Favourite film?  

There are a lot of them e.g. Life is Beautiful, The Godfather, The Matrix1, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Catch Me If You Can, Holiday in Rome, etc...  

What was your favourite childhood fairy tale?  

The Gifted and the Pandrhola  

Favourite food?  

Bacon cheeseburger, Italian piadina...  

What do you enjoy? (guilty pleasure)   

Long breakfasts, travelling - exploring different countries, people and cultures.
