Lukáš, we want to introduce you. Tell us about yourself.

Hi, I'm Lukáš and I've been photographing weddings for twelve years. Twelve? Uh, yeah, that's right. I'm part of the so-called first wave of photographers who started shooting weddings a little differently than they used to. However, for all that time, wedding photography has been my sideline and will probably stay that way. True, it's extremely challenging, especially if you're still a parent, but I try to balance everything within reason.

What is your signature style?

Writing something by hand, the graphomaniacs would probably have a field day with me. But in my photos I try to capture the best I can at the time. The guiding line for me has always been and will always be emotion, composition and of course light. Although on the one hand I perceive photography as a craft that can be learned, on the other hand, every photographer wants to project a part of himself and the kind of person he is into his photos. So you could even say - my signature is my clients.

Why weddings?

From the beginning I was closer to photographing people than anything else. Originally I didn't even have ambitions to shoot weddings. For a while I was only shooting portraits and basically looking for a photographer as they say. One day a friend offered me (hi Sharka) to photograph her friend's wedding and I guess that's where it all started. Looking back though, I just have to roll my eyes at the thought of what could have gone wrong. Luckily it worked out and I found out that it was actually a great job. After all, a wedding is one of the most joyous events in our lives together and I'm grateful that I could be there to capture it. To date, this counts over three hundred weddings and that includes for well-known socialites.

We want to know more. What do you shoot with?

For many years I have been a supporter of the Canon party. After years of their failures and inability to respond to change, I started looking for a change.  I tried a few Fujifilm models (they didn't suit me), and today I am maximally happy with Sony equipment. I use Sony A9 cameras. I'll leave the technical details aside, they simply suit me best. Big thanks to the guys from the Czech Sony dealership.

What do you like to shoot?

Weddings, of course. My favourite part is the walk down the aisle, when the tension drops and the joy and euphoria comes to the surface.

I've also been really into environmental portraits (photos of people in their work environment) lately. It gets me into places I probably wouldn't have looked. For example, making airplanes, that was cool. But I also photograph other things, events, interiors, products, etc. I just don't present myself that much.

What season inspires you the most?

Mostly probably spring and autumn. Spring because everything is new, fresh and smells good. And also because I was born in spring. Autumn, on the other hand, for what it can be. Sometimes cold and unkind, sometimes warm and sunny, but above all colourful.

Favourite holiday destination?

I could probably name dozens of places before, including the south of France, Tuscany, inland Mallorca, the Maldives, the Caribbean. Our honeymoon in Polynesia (which I don't think I'll ever go to again) was amazing. Today, I'm going to say dryly: the cottage.

 Favorite book?

You can consider me a barbarian, I don't read books. For now, I don't have the luxury of free time to just get started. Maybe in a few years. I guess audiobooks don't count, huh? I listen to them while I drive.

Favorite movie?

It would take a lot of time to list all my favorites. I'll just list two that make me happy and laugh every time. The Man from Acapulco (including the brilliant dubbing) and, from Czech cinema, Four Murders is Enough, Darling. I generally like intelligent humour in comedies, but also science fiction.

What was your favourite childhood fairy tale?

Definitely, with devils there are no jokes.

Favourite food?

Whatever my wife makes me. It's not that I can't cook, but you know, second best. After all, even Leoš B. appreciated it, and he's some kind of gourmet.

What are you into? (guilty pleasure)

Oh, there's plenty. I was born in a bull and they are known to indulge. Let's start with chocolate...

We're inviting you for a drink. What do you want?

I don't drink that much, but probably a good rum. No, I'm kidding, I'm from Valašsko, so only slivovice!

Mark what describes you:

  TEA - COFFEE

I'm a coffee drinker, but I don't mind "shchaj" (as my grandmother used to say).

DOG - CAT

  I don't mind a dog, but I prefer a cat.

  MORNING BIRD - NIGHT OWL

Used to be a night owl, now I'm glad for any sleep! (laughs)

 BOOK - SERIAL

  The series, definitely.

MOUNTAINS - SEA

Mountains in winter, sea in summer.
