Sustainability front and centre
Sustainability is one of Holubica’s core values. This issue may still be fairly peripheral to weddings, but the use of floral foam, for example, is problematic. “This green foam is harmful both for florists, who breathe in fine dust saturated with microplastics, and for the environment. Floral foam can’t be recycled, but it’s used in almost every floral arrangement,” Adela points out. Holubica makes sure weddings are eco-friendly, using flowers grown in Europe and supporting local producers. The result is beautiful weddings with a minimal environmental footprint. You can see what a sustainable Big Day curated by Holubica looks like in Mile 24: Barbara and Lukáš were inspired by Claude Monet’s Impressionist paintings of water lilies. The Monet concept – the colour palette, romantic mood and water lilies motif – featured on the invitations, other printed materials and even on the cake; and instead of a photo booth, the wed- ding guests could have their portrait painted in watercolours.
