ON THE BEACH.
The sand, the sound of the turquoise sea and the salty breeze. Laura had been thinking about a romantic beach wedding since she was a little girl. Australia's Peregian Beach became the place where Laura and Cliff said yes. The Czech-Australian couple's wedding was low-cost, costing just $5,000 by local standards, about a seventh of the usual budget. Laura's dress was waiting for her at a local market, it suited the casual setting perfectly. "I wanted green and blue, but my wonderful friend Roza convinced me a few days before the wedding that the bride had to wear white, and I'm extremely glad she did!" Laura recalls. The venue for the reception was a community garden near the beach. The day before, the bride-to-be and her friends decorated the garden in the style of an afternoon party. There were lots of lights, colourful bunting and flowers. Instead of wedding gifts, guests were asked to bring their favorite food to the reception. In addition, a pizza oven was available in the garden. What was definitely missing from the party were disposable plastic plates and cutlery. The newlyweds wanted to remain environmentally friendly. DJ Yax, Cliff's best friend and best man, provided the music. The wedding party partied until dawn.
