MARTIN POŠTULKA
MARTIN POŠTULKA

Martin Poštulka, aka Márty, is a wedding photographer (and more besides), working professionally since 2010. He lives in Čeladná, whose picturesque square and beautiful surroundings have made it a popular wedding destination in recent years. He tries to keep his photography natural, clean and timeless. Martin describes his attitude as slightly punk. He doesn’t have a breakdown when life doesn’t go according to plan. He just wants a nice life. And that comes through in his photography. He genuinely likes the people he takes pictures of and wants to do the best job possible. While avoiding wedding clichés, if he can. He wants the newlyweds and guests to feel comfortable around him and he wants to give them a little bit of himself. And because of that, he often hears that his attitude is a bit punk, in other words free-thinking and non-conformist.

Magical accidents

Photography for him a wonderful craft that lets him keep pushing himself and improving, either by taking inspiration from the latest trends or coming up with his own ideas. Sometimes he thinks of it like making a good job of tiling a roof or laying a floor. He tries to go about his job that way, while giving his pictures a “twist” that can come from magical accidents.

A challenge you get one chance at

Martin hopes he’ll always be able to make a living taking photographs. If he had to imagine himself doing something else, he’d make videos or learn to tattoo. Or he’d be a modern-day vagabond – he’d live in a van with a tent on the roof and travel for a while. But wedding photography is and will always be close to his heart. It may be extremely demanding work, but it’s also wonderful. For him, weddings are a challenge where you get one chance to get it right.
