MILE 26 - COVERSTORY

SYMPHONY FOR FOUR DESIGNERS AND ONE PHOTOGRAPHER

Here it is. We come to the climax of the story of fabrics we started in the last issue with Textil Forum and two talented young designers. A dream about a bride designed and given shape by Šárka Zejdová and Klára Drevenák. Are you ready? Unexpected textures and silhouettes emerge from the shadows, complemented by the alluring gleam of silver and glass. What do you see on the rippled crystal surface?

I want to buy this

Both bridal outfits have almost architectural qualities, with unsuspected details standing out in the play of light and shadow. An oversized silver jacket paired with a delicate skirt evokes confident elegance and strength. When designing it, Šárka Zejdová had in mind the well-known saying about what a bride should wear on her wedding day, but more important than whether something is borrowed or blue is connecting the past with the future and new beginnings. For her wedding dress design, Klára Drevenák took inspiration from Degas’ famous paintings of young ballerinas. Their fragility and innocence remain, but the girl has grown into a woman. And the dancers’ flowing skirts are replaced by sophisticated tailoring.

We decked the brides out in jewellery from the Tender Tendrils collection by Magdalena Šťastníková, which earned the designer a nomination for the Czech Grand Design 2024 award. The glass ruffles and bows were the work of the equally successful Linda Procházka, whose hand-blown handbags created under the LINDA PRO brand found a place in our hearts. This is a piece of glass you can take with you when you go out.

Or you can dance down the aisle with it.
